Resolution revision

in Simple Living

I hate to admit that the things I love are not very good for me.  I have a weakness for rice krispy treats, but if I’m honest they are little more than sugar and fat.  Cheap milk chocolate is addicting, but I know it’s not the best choice for breakfast.  Homemade bread is wonderful from the dough stage to the baking to hot out of the oven smothered with homemade raspberry jam, but whenever I make homemade bread, I tend to over-indulge.

With migraines, two common triggers are yeast (especially sourdough) and gluten, so my New Year’s Resolution to bake bread weekly is really counterproductive towards my goal of improving my health.  While making my own bread might help to stretch my food dollar, cutting bread out all together will probably make a bigger difference in my life both financially and physically.

While I am crossing off one of my New Year’s goals, the motivation behind that goal is to cut back our consumption of processed foods and to make more foods from scratch.  Not having migraines is worth giving up bread, but I have to admit it with a big, disappointed sigh.

Maybe I should have warned you first rather than having you read it on the internet. You can still make me cinnamon rolls.
