In the Fire
Have you ever tried to take a macro shot of coals burning hot beneath a fire? I have, and this is the result. It’s a challenge. I couldn’t take a true macro shot where my lens is just centimeters away from the subject because I would have burnt my hands. Getting that close probably would have melted my digital camera too. I had to get as close at I felt safe and then use the zoom. My camera is a bit finicky on macro, I can only use the zoom up to 6X if I go any closer it won’t focus with the macro feature on, even though I have a 12X optical zoom.
There we were, Brenton was sleeping on the swing we bought last weekend, I was poking in the fire with an aspen root with one hand, and holding the camera in the other. The day had been kind of hard, and I was in sort of a funk. There is just something about watching a fire burn down that makes all my worries drift away with the smoke.
As the master card ad would say:
1/4 of a fire starter stick: 15c
2 mugs of hot cocoa: 20c
watching your worries float away with campfire smoke: priceless
