A picture post.
So I thought I that since spring is coming I would change my blog background. And in honor of spring, God dumped 8 inches of snow on North Idaho. Mom says that in Georgia everything is in full bloom…I haven’t seen the first sign of spring, except maybe more than usual gray/wet stuff.
Brenton’s brother, Nick, came for his spring break. We tried to drive over some mountains on national forest road, but got stopped by snow. It was fun. The third guy in the picture is Nick’s friend from Trinity. They both attend school in Vancouver.
Brenton and I are trying to do more walking. It has really helped to strengthen my knees. I’m super thankful for that!!! Since I’m planning on becoming an artist, I have been trying to take more pictures of landscapes and stuff. The only way into town is across the Long Bridge (yes, that’s a proper noun). East of the Long Bridge is a long railroad bridge. I thought this was a neat picture because of the way the sand and the mountains cut the picture into thirds with the railroad bridge leading your eyes into the picture. It was a gray day, but not too cold. You will notice that there isn’t any ice on the beach. I think the temperature was about 50 deg that day. We walked about 3 miles (across the Long Bridge and back). I was excited because the only knee pain was muscles (as opposed to joints):>>>Goes off to do a happy dance in the library<<<
These next pictures were taken on the first snow day. Funny, We got five inches of snow and the next day was 50 degrees again. That night we got about 5 more inches and another 50 degree day to follow. It’s a very strange world, this Idaho.
The bridge leads into Centennial park. Sandpoint celebrated it’s 100th year in 2001. It’s a pretty young town. It started mainly as a timber town. There were HUGE ponderosa pines here during the first years. If you get a chance, check out some of Ross Hall’s photography. He was the town photographer for years, and took some famous pictures of snow ghosts. Here are two good examples of his work:

Sorry, that was a side track…
These last two pictures are of a little red barn. I like red barns. I was having fun walking around in the snow. The second day I didn’t walk as much because the snow was deeper than my poor little 8 inch snow boots could keep out. Cold snow (yes, I know that frozen water is usually cold) is rather uncomfortable falling down nice warm ankles. Brrr..

Maybe…unless we decide to buy a house and land…or have kids…or maybe we’ll just save all of our money and retire at 25! Ohh I like that idea :-). I’m well over my 1 hour alotment, but I think I’ll stay here till I get hungry or get kicked off. Gone to surf some more…
