It’s about time…
I moved up to Idaho. It’s nice–Nice doesn’t really go far enough. Every day this country takes my breath away.
Friday I went out to pick up Brenton from work. I caught the tail end of sunset. I couldn’t actually see the sunset–it was behind the mountains to the west of us, but the mountains to the east of us were stunning. The tops had a nice dusting of snow earlier in the week and reflecting the sunset they were dusky pink. Below the pink snow, the mountains were a hazey misty purple–and that’s just one day.
The town is situation on a glacial plain surrounded on all four sides by mountains. I like living in the “flat lands” because we actually seen the sun and the sunrise and the sunset. When we get some land I hope it’s on the southside of a mountain rather than on the cold north side.
Overall, the weather has been quite nice. The first two weeks, it rained. There were a couple of weeks of just clouds–with snow every night, but it melted off during the day. The temperature hung out around 40 deg for the first four weeks we were here.
Last week, the clouds lifted and some cold weather moved our way. The sunshine is intense and the sky is the bluest I have ever seen (not having humidity will do that). This morning when we woke up the temperature was 11.1 degrees (yes, that 0.1 deg is important). I don’t think I’ve ever seen it that cold since 1988–I was in Kindergarten, we were in Georgia. The temperature got down to -4 then. This weekend, we are supposed to see -6 (brr).
I just got the 15 minute warning from the library announcer. I still want to go check out a book. We don’t have internet so posting will be spotty. I’m not sure we really want to get internet–big time waster. I guess I’ll run away now to go find that cookbook I want to check out.
This stream of consciousness is….
To be continued.
