Last night there was a total lunar eclipse. Brenton and I drove out of town to get away from the lights and watch the moon get eaten by the shadow of the earth.
I did a time-lapse photo series (1 shot/ ~15 minutes) of the moon from the time of totality (7p.m. PST) to the end of the eclipse (9p.m. PST). This was the last total lunar eclipse until December 2010.

Thanks for posting that! My husband (www.crossmarkdesign.com/photography) tried getting some shots, but with three kids and two parents running in and out of the house, in a major city…well - we started looking like the Redneck Parade, so we just gave up.

Amazing photos. I am sick, so I didn’t venture out in the cold to see it. Because of your great pics, I am enjoying it now.

@ Stretch mark Mama–Sometimes you just have to put down the camera and enjoy the moment. I hope you were at least able to watch a bit.
@ Kim–thanks for the compliments. We actually sat in the car and watched. I left the camera set up and jumped out of the car every 15 minutes to take a shot. By the end of the night, the tripod had ice on it. Brrr… hope you feel better soon.

Very cool! Thanks for sharing that. We were completely under thick cloud cover that night and were unable to see the eclipse.

I had so much fun taking this series of pictures. It was truly a blessing that we weren’t under cloud cover–it was forecasted that we would be.
This series of picture reminded me why I love photography. I need to get my camera out more.
