I keep having all these crazy cravings for food that I thought I hated. Most notably, Avocados and Tomatoes.
I thought I hated avocados, but I think my love affair started at a Cinco De Mayo party this year. It was the bean dip, the only thing I could eat at the party without feeling sick. I haven’t been able to get enough avocado since then. I buy them every time I go shopping. I have avocado chunks in every salad I make. Avocado on a turkey(real turkey meat, not deli meat) and tomato sandwich is heavenly.
Which brings me to my next point. Why did I start craving tomatoes after (and only after) the salmonella scare? I was holding off until I was certain the store tomatoes are save (mostly shipped from California). Now that California tomatoes are cleared as safe, I may have to give in to my cherry tomato craving. I don’t like tomatoes. I have never liked tomatoes. The things I am doing for this baby.

crazy and pregnant!!!! and always lovely and fun and Sunny!
And why did I crave fried liver & onions when I was carrying you, Sunny? The whole family suffered through that craving – at least once a week.
I really craved mashed potatoes. We stopped at every deli in a 5 mile radius more times that I care to admit!
Hey, thanks SO much for the great link you gave me! I loved it and just put it out in a post. (and crediting you for sharing it)
Thank you so much for keeping your eye out for me on things I would like! You must know me well, that was perfect. Love that!

Sunny, You are just a normal pregnant woman! With my first pregnancy, I craved yeast rolls and ice cream sandwiches. My hubby would go anytime of day or night to get me what I wanted. With my second pregnancy, it was greek salads. I ate them 2-3 times a week. Hubby got to where he liked them too. I could actually drink a bottle of greek salad dressing! I still like them, and my son, now 6, LOVES salads. My oldest, now 18, LOVES bread and will eat all the ice cream before I even get a chance to get to it! Go figure!
Your post reminded me of this apricot-jello-cream cheese, coolwhip salad that my sister used to make. When I was pregnant with one of our 6 kids- can’t remember which one- I so craved this salad. So, I made it for supper one night. I couldn’t eat enough of it. Then. I have not touched it since that night, though.
And you watch- next pregnancy for you, you’ll crave something entirely different than this time.
Who knows; maybe you’ll like them always. I can’t say; I was more about aversions to foods that I had loved, which made me crazy. Cravings sound nicer.
Pregnancy does such strange things to a woman.
