Sourdough bread – YUM! I love it, and I’ve enjoyed making it. Recently a friend from church sent a loaf of this wonderful bread home with my husband after he’d done some work at her house. I asked for the recipe, and she gave it to me along with a starter – YAY me! My family has enjoyed what I’ve made, and I have to admit so have I. I’m now in the process of making a starter. I have the one she gave me, but I want to have several going at the same time, so I thought why not just try to make a starter myself. -We’ll see. I’ve been sick a couple of days and unable to make my bread. I fed it two days ago, and want to make bread today, but I’m unsure if it’s okay to feed it again on day 2. If anyone knows, please let me know. I don’t really understand the days and why they are important which adds to my dilemma. Today I’m going to feed my starter its first feeding its day three. I don’t have a clue if that’s right, but I’m trying. Live and learn, right?

Thank you for the starter recipe. I will try it. I have a sourdough recipe from my mom but someone gave her the starter and I don’t know how to start it. I have the feed directions ans the bread recipe but I would like to know how to start it. Hope you can help me. The feed is
1 cup starter
3/4 cup sugar
3 Tb potatoe flakes
1 cup water
1 cup flour

I use all purpose white flour (plain) or half white, half whole wheat. The bread doesn’t rise quite as much with the whole wheat, but I like the little extra nutritional boost.
