“So, I see you’re wearing pink today. That kind of ruins the tough girl image. I mean come on, you ride motorcycles, you weld, you work on trucks. You wore gloves to prom so you didn’t have to clean the grease out from under your fingernails.”
“Ah, but you see, I did go to prom, and I wore a dress and high heals. My hair was washed and my lips were red. I looked like a princess. Of course I did go to prom in a pickup truck and if I had my choice I would have been on a motorcycle.
“There you are! It’s that motorcycle again. You are such a stereotypical male.
“Excuse me! What did you say? I am NOT a stereotypical male! Have you ever seen a sterotypical male who crochets? Or who can cook like me? Or who looks so good in pink? Have you ever seen a sterotypical male giggle? Have you ever seen a sterotypical male paint his toenails or wear dangly sparkly earrings? I can do all that stuff and more. Yes, I may like riding motorcycles and working on trucks. Yes, I can weld. Regardless, I have the right to wear dresses and be a girl whenever I want to be. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have to go primp.
What’s so special about a kitchen table? Growing up, the kitchen table was the emotional center of the home. I have spent many hours talking with my mom sitting at the table drinking a cup of tea. A home just isn’t a home without a kitchen table. I get nourishment at the table. I grow mentally as I sit at the table and do homework. I grow emotionally as I discuss life issues with mom.
Now, I have my own kitchen table. It holds a prominent place in my home. As a matter of fact the kitchen table is the first thing you see when you walk in the door. I really do like that bright red table. Now if I just had some kitchen chairs to go with it.
